The new 5300 series Quad-core Intel Xeons bring to four the number of cores making it the ideal processor for heavy multi-tasking in VFX and for running multi-threaded VFX applications. Each pair of cores on the processor shares 4MB of L2 cache that accelerates access to data by avoiding access to memory, which is slower . The Advanced Smart Cache feature minimizes memory traffic by allowing a core to use the whole cache if the other core is idle. The Quad-Core Intel Xeon’s FSB is an impressive 1066MHz for fast data throughput with other components.
