boxx Powers di

The DI (Digital Intermediate) process has become the standard method for producing high-quality feature films since the end of the '90s. The level of creative control that film-makers have over their material has reached unimaginable levels as computing power has grown to the point of being able to effectively apply many sophisticated effects to vast amounts of digitized film.

In particular, color grading which until not so long ago was performed by adjusting the exposure of film to different color components is now a fully digital process where the colorist has almost infinite control over not just color, but also sharpness, grain, and many other characteristics in order to enhance the film's atmosphere.

As DI continues to move to ever greater resolutions, from HD to 2K, to 4k and beyond, BOXX will continue to design high-performance computing solutions that open the creative horizons of film-makers.

"We love working with Boxx Technologies. They have an unsurpassed reputation for quality and stability within the industry. Knowing that our 2K / HD hardware works in the 7400 series of workstation means that we can forget about configuration support related issues, even for files the size of 2K RGB."
