video editing AND boxx
Video editing has come a long way since editors physically cut strips of film to assemble them to form the final production. Today's film editors work with non-linear editing software running on powerful workstations. The editing work is no longer destructive of the original material. Rather, editing decisions are recorded as an edit decision list (EDL) which the software uses to create the final version using the original digitized material.
The software also limits the degradation in resolution that results from a succession of compression and decompression operations by allowing the editor to work on a proxy version.
Video editing workstations are integrated systems that are capable of quickly accessing large volumes of high-definition digitized film. They usually include a video capture card through which the original footage is ingested. High quality displays are required to work with the film with comfort and accuracy.
